President Ben Hardy Launches the 2026 Annual Appeal

As President of the Anchor Society I am asking for your help.
Last year, Anchor supported a woman with heating issues, she wrote that she was having a bath that night, for the first time in four years. She was one of 155 people who came to us because they had nowhere else to turn.
Not grand schemes, but a boiler, a cooker, a bed. Practical things, delivered quickly, which determine whether someone spends a winter warm or cold. That is the difference your support will make. Our newsletter highlights this urgent work.
I have held several voluntary roles, most of them focused on young people. This one sits at the other end; the need turns out to be much the same. Someone in difficulty, a practical problem that money can solve, and the difference it makes when help arrives quickly.
The Society, established in Bristol in 1769, has been quietly helping people ever since. Every President has made the appeal I am making now. One household in ten is now in fuel poverty, and the grants we award have risen by almost 94% in three years.
This is why I am asking for your help.
Please give what you can to the President’s Appeal. Our average grant is now a little over £1,000, and whatever you give will be spent quickly, locally and on something practical.
Thank you for reading this, and for your donation.
